Concerts from the 1990s
Michael returned to San Siro again in 1992 for the “Dangerous World Tour” and later in 1997—with the “HIStory World Tour,” a concert opened by the very young Paola and Chiara—for another performance. Each appearance became a national media event, with fans camping out outside the stadium days before the show. During his stays in Milan, Michael Jackson often stayed at luxury hotels in the city center, turning entire neighborhoods into gathering spots for fans. Even today, many fans organize informal tours of the places the artist frequented.

Rome
Rome also holds a special place in Michael Jackson’s Italian history. The capital welcomed him on several occasions, both for professional reasons and for short private vacations. The King of Pop performed in Rome in both 1988 and 1992, as part of the same tours mentioned earlier. One of the most iconic places associated with him is Via Veneto. Here, the singer was photographed during a few nighttime strolls away from the concert spotlight. Michael Jackson often expressed great admiration for Italian history and art. His passion for classical culture often came to the fore during his European travels.
Florence
Michael Jackson in Italy: A Love of Art
Florence, on the other hand, represented the more cultural side of Michael Jackson’s relationship with Italy. The singer was fascinated by Renaissance art and Italian history, and during several private visits he showed an interest in museums and historic architecture. Places such as Piazza del Duomo and the famous Uffizi Gallery perfectly embody the artistic heritage that Michael deeply admired.
Before bidding farewell to Italy with the final concert of the Bad World Tour in Turin—the city where he arrived on the morning of May 28, 1988—the singer decided to visit the Florence of the Medici, especially the Accademia, where he admired the monumental David up close.

The Telegatti
A Legacy That Lives On
Michael Jackson’s appearance at the 1997 Telegatti Awards remains one of the most iconic moments in Italian television from the 1990s. The event took place on May 6, 1997, at the Teatro Nazionale in Milan and was hosted by Pippo Baudo and Milly Carlucci. It was Michael Jackson’s first true appearance on Italian television.
